Readers of this blog will know I have been concerned about climate change for a while, writing about it, building models and commenting on public policy.
But now I realise that I have been wrong and now we have, for the first time, a truly coherent explanation of climate change. It’s a plot!
Not just a plot. But a United Nations plot. Not just a United Nations plot, but a plot to take over the world. World domination no less!
Climate change is a hoax led by the United Nations so that it can end democracy and impose authoritarian rule, according to Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s chief business adviser.
Maurice Newman, the chairman of the Prime Minister’s business advisory council, has written in The Australian that scientific modelling showing the link between humans and climate change is wrong and the real agenda is a world takeover for the UN.
Why does The Australian give this man oxygen?
“It’s a well-kept secret, but 95 per cent of the climate models have been found to be in error. ” Mr Newman wrote on Friday.
What is even more worrying is that this guy can get this nonsense published one of Australia’s major newspapers.
Not only that, he’s the chair of the PM’s Business Advisory Council, which probably makes him as important as Tony Abbott’s other climate change adviser, poet Dorothea Mackellar who wrote the central tenant of Abbott’s climate change philosophy: that Australia was a land “Of droughts and flooding rains”, always has been always will be, according to Abbott.
Well, Maurice is probably more influential than Dorothea as Dorothea has been dead for some time.
Then in a different newspaper, in a galaxy far away, we get this headline:
The world is headed into a major drought-bringing El Nino event, which will lift global temperatures and lead to bushfires and water shortages in eastern Australia, climate scientists have confirmed.
No doubt Maurice thinks El Nino is also a UN plot. Mind you, you have to hand it to the boys and girls at UN. They’ve been doing all this world domination stuff for two decades, according to Maurice and looks like he’s the first person to call them out on it.
Keep up the good work, Maurice. Eternal paranoia is the price of liberty.
