Credlin demonstrates little knowledge of Shakespeare

Ms Credlin is quoted as repeatedly referring to Ms Bishop, the deputy Liberal leader, as “Lady Macbeth” – Shakespeare’s infamously treacherous female character.

Well, not quite. If you ignore the small question of the assassination of Duncan which she encouraged, Lady Macbeth with was extremely loyal to a husband, pushing him to make a bid for the leadership, supporting him while he was king but unfortunately not being around to witness his removal by his nobles.


The Canberra Macbeths and Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard as the Shakespearean ones.

Now if Julie Bishop is a Shakespearean character, she is more likely to be Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, also known as the Kingmaker and a man who was adept at changing sides according to the shifting political allegiances of the time.
