Q: Prime Minister, what is your message to the Australian people?

A: My government is focused on jobs and growth.

Q: What do you hope to get by focusing on jobs and growth?

A: Oh, a much clearer view.

Q: Do you have that view yet?

A: Oh, yes most certainly and it’s much clearer.  We need to focus on technology, science, innovation, education and the very exciting transition to the new economy.

Q: How can you focus on education when you’re cutting funding universities?

A: The University sector will need to become more agile.

Q: By cutting jobs?

A: That is one form of agility.  Yes.

Q: And your focus on science? I suppose CSIRO is becoming more agile by sacking scientists?

A: CSIRO is making the transition to the new economy. There’s never been more exciting time to be a scientist in Australia.

Q: Germany, the 4th largest economy in the world is generating 90% of its power from renewables. Does your government have any plans to use the transition to renewable energy to support your focus on jobs and growth?

A: Nope.

Q: Never been a more exciting time to be a coalminer in Australia?

A:  Certainly.
