Shameless hypocrisy and opportunism from Australian Christian Lobby’s Lyle Shelton

Last night, there appears to have been an accident outside the the headquarters of the Australian Christian Lobby. Lyle Shelton couldn’t wait to start blaming everybody who opposes him and his obnoxious views.

Lyle Shelton and fellow traveller Scott Morrison: “those of us who know better”

The Age reports:

Australian Christian Lobby managing director Lyle Shelton has linked federal politicians to an overnight car explosion at the organisation’s headquarters, accusing left-wing MPs of using incendiary language and failing to condemn death threats.

But hours after Mr Shelton made the claim on Thursday, ACT Policing released a statement saying they had established the actions of the 35-year-old male driver “were not politically, religiously or ideologically motivated”.

Shelton was unmoved by this rejection of his analysis.

“I think as a society we’ve got to have civil debate and we’ve got to stop the name calling and the slurs.” said Shelton.

Not only did Lyle Shelton make the wrong call on blaming left-wing politicians for the accident outside his office, he also exposed himself as a massive hypocrite. One can only assume that he had forgotten that he had suggested same-sex marriage and Safe Schools were comparable to the atrocities of the Holocaust, saying such things reflected “a failure of those of us who know better”.

“The cowardice and weakness of Australia’s ‘gatekeepers’ is causing unthinkable things to happen, just as unthinkable things happened in Germany in the 1930s,” he said.

He has also said same-sex marriage would create an environment for children that was akin to the stolen generations, whereby Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their homes.
