We’ve all suffered through interviews on the ABC, particularly on 7.30, where politicians consistently refused to answer questions put to them by the interviewers.
Leigh Sales in particular is consistently patient and polite. But the strain often shows.
So here’s the new idea.
At the end of an interview of particularly outrageous obfuscation, an independent commentator should review the performance of the politician and comment on questions that have been avoided, obvious distortion of facts and general political rat-baggery.
The politician will have no right of reply.
The independent commentators could be selected using a very simple test: From a sitting position, they should be able to hit the television at 15 paces with a kid’s soft toy.
